Overview
New Referrals
A referral is not required to schedule an appointment. If applicable, it can be helpful to verify with your insurance provider prior to booking a session if a referral is needed for the reimbursement of any fees paid for assessment or treatment services provided by a licensed Psychologist.
Fees
Psychological services provided in a private practice setting are not covered by OHIP.
For those clients with extended health care benefits, a portion of our fees may be covered and reimbursed as a percentage, or according to a set annual allowance, as determined by the insurance provider.
Fees are charged on an hourly basis. Payment is collected at the time of providing service, and is accepted by way of cash, cheque, Visa, MasterCard or Interac. Receipts are provided to clients when payment is received and, if required, can be used for insurance claims or income tax purposes.
Confidentiality & Privacy
Across all client interactions, significant emphasis is placed on maintaining the confidentiality of clients’ information as well as their privacy. No information is released from our offices, or shared with someone else/another organization, without a client’s informed consent.
There are, however, professionally and legally established limits to confidentiality that Psychologists must adhere to (i.e., in cases of risk of harm to clients or someone else, a child being at risk of abuse or neglect, a regulated health professional being sexually inappropriate with a patient, clinical records and notes being subpoenaed by the courts for a legal matter). Critical issues surrounding confidentiality, and the limits noted above, are discussed in detail during a client’s initial consultation.
